Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety
EHS & Energy Policy
Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as "USI") set this policy to realize ESG principles, implement environmental protection commitments, fulfill social responsibilities, and improve governance. USI and its subsidiaries, customers, suppliers, contractors, and all other business partners in the value chain are required to comply with this policy in the operations, products, activities, and services they provide.
This policy is overseen and endorsed by the Board of Directors, implemented by the sustainability development department, and the performance results are regularly reported to the President. USI calls suppliers, customers, and internal and external stakeholders to work together to minimize our environmental impact and safeguard employees in our workplaces.
The six main pillars of this policy are:
- Regulatory Compliance & Responding to Environmental Campaigns - USI will comply with all relevant global and local regulatory standards and respond to global environmental campaigns.
- Management System & Risk Assessment - Establish a dedicated department and EHS & Energy Management System in compliance with international standards to manage environmental risks and opportunities. We commit to reducing environmental and biodiversity impact from greenhouse gas emissions, waste, and energy consumption of our operations, productions, services, distribution, mergers, and acquisitions, and continue to develop improvement plans.
- Awareness Training & Policy Implementation - Raise workplace health and safety awareness through continuous communication with and inviting feedback from all employees, suppliers, distributors, contractors, and other business partners. Conduct training and drills to raise biodiversity impact awareness and prevent environmental impact, excess resource waste, and safety hazards.
- Impact Mitigation & Continuous Improvement - Enhancing products' eco-friendliness and energy efficiency will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prevent pollution. Mitigating the impact of climate change and setting carbon neutrality strategies is USI's environmental responsibility. Identify occupational hazards and risks and formulate mitigation plans to improve overall occupational safety performance.
- Effective Reduction & Circular Reuse - Procure sustainable products and services and support circular economic development through conserving energy, improving process design, and reducing and reusing industrial waste.
- Goal Establishment & Sustainable Operations - Set and continuously review environmental targets and goals. USI will prioritize setting quantitative short, medium, and long-term targets and progressively review them to ensure their effectiveness. Significant events will be reported to the Board of Directors for review to achieve sustainable operations.
